As an Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates of planned construction projects in terms of the labour, materials, equipment and preliminaries which may be required. This role involves analysing project requirements, collaborating with different departments, ensuring estimates align with CLM Fireproofing’s objectives and client expectations, liaising with Clients, attending meetings, onsite visits, measuring and reading drawings and plans to determine the extent of works required, and return accurate cost estimates.

You will also be involved in the pre-construction / early engagement phase of the project at the tendering stage. Projects can be new builds, ongoing maintenance or refurbishments works.

The tasks you will be responsible for include (but not limited to):

• Review project plans, specifications, and other documents to understand the scope of the work.
• Prepare and estimate budget costs for construction by studying plans and specifications.
• Collaborate with the Commercial and Operations teams, and other stakeholders to ensure comprehensive estimates.
• Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for labour, materials, equipment, and project related costs.
• Resolve cost differences by analysing and collecting information.
• Write up and present budgets, reports and project plans.
• Schedule meetings with clients, delivery team and employees.
• Monitor Estimating processes as required.
• Research prices and collect quotes from suppliers and sub-contractors.
• Check, review and comment on client requirements and specifications.
• Obtain details and accurate price lists for everything needed for projects.
• Collaborate and support colleagues within the Pre-Construction and wider teams.
• Safeguarding & derisking.
• Assessing and adhering to all risk assessments and health & safety requirements.
• Participate in relevant training programmes.
• Keep abreast of latest trends and developments.

• Work collaboratively with the relevant departments to develop accurate and consistent approach to achieve objectives.
• Promote company and service excellence throughout the full project lifecycle.
• Support other members of the wider Pre-construction Team where required.
• Contribute towards building and maintaining a positive workplace for all CLM staff.

• Proven experience as an Estimator in commercial and/or construction projects, preferably in passive firestopping.
• Proficiency in estimation software and tools.
• Ability to read, understand and organise construction plans and specifications.
• Proficient in MS Office Suite with advanced knowledge of Excel.
• Capable of taking a project from receipt of documents to quotation including build ups and making necessary allowances to complete relevant scopes.
• Ability to manage tenders and bids efficiently.
