Healthcare

Healthcare construction is a collaborative effort between workers, patients and site teams to build high-quality community facilities. CLM Fireproofing assists in this effort by providing a full scope of fire protection services to safeguard healthcare facilities from structural fire risks.

Meeting the Challenges of the Healthcare System

When providing fire protection in the healthcare sector, there are numerous risks to consider. For instance, our team often works on live, occupied wards, installing services amid noise and disruption. We will maintain the utmost consideration for patients, especially those considered vulnerable.

We uphold exemplary standards despite various unique constraints, such as the inability to turn off electricity in healthcare facilities. Additionally, sector-specific requirements often involve our operatives working at a considerable height. We remain attuned to health and safety measures and will engage with stakeholders and patients with professionalism and sensitivity.

We try to engage with clients as early as possible in the project lifecycle for quick and effective risk management. This also allows us to plan our work around unique circumstances such as accessibility issues. As a result, we have a sterling reputation for delivering fire protection projects on time, within budget and to a superior standard of quality.

Residents are becoming more acutely aware of the potential risks of inadequate or non-compliant passive fire protection, and CLM Fireproofing is dedicated to helping communities feel safe in their homes.

CLM Fireproofing has 35 years of experience in providing passive fire protection solutions to the private and public sectors. Meeting the Challenges of the Social Housing Sector

As part of our work in remediating social housing projects, we collaborate closely with several industry-leading bodies. For example, our CEO is chairman of the Association for Specialist Fire Protection (ASFP). We are also accredited by FIRAS, a 3rd party certification body that is highly regarded in the structural fire protection industry. Our works, underpinned by our digital compliance technology platform, adhere to applicable British and European Standards, codes of best practice and the Fire Safety Act 2021. The CLM Resident and Community Care Charter:

Since 2017, there has been a spike in social housing residents being aware of potential fire safety risks which are leading them to feel unsafe in their own homes. When working in social housing, it is paramount that residents are informed on what is being done to keep them safe.

Our team of fire protection specialists are trained and experienced in liaising with residents across diverse communities. We deliver passive fire protection services against a backdrop of challenges, including language barriers, personal shift patterns, vulnerabilities, safeguarding risks and timescales.

We strive to educate residents and building managers on the importance of passive fire safety. Our experts also work across the full spectrum of social housing, including general needs, sheltered accommodation and supported housing, tailoring our service to suit each resident. This means that we understand and address the needs of every client and end user in our work.

It is truly a pleasure to work with such a great contractor and I very much look forward to continuing the relationship and making a bigger, positive impact with CLM. I receive only positive feedback from all stakeholders and residents that are exposed to CLM Fireproofing and would refer them to any company looking for a reliable and professional contractor that never compromises on quality and compliance.

New Build Homes

The term ‘new build’ denotes new construction projects, compared to the renovation and refurbishment of existing structures. New build constructions will utilise tried-and-tested methods such as cavity bricks and timber frames. CLM Fireproofing can engage with clients as early as possible so that new build projects, be they apartments, high-rise flats or houses, are delivered in line with passive fire protection regulations.

Meeting the Challenges of the New Build Sector

One of the unique requirements of the new build sector is the need to adapt to quick project turnarounds. Our experience and technical aptitude mean we can adjust our approach to match any desired pace whilst maintaining the highest standards. This is evident in our work with prominent construction companies such as Taylor Wimpey, Chartway Homes and Barratt David Wilson. We can be brought on board at any phase of the construction process. However, we often look to engage with clients in the pre-design stage to deliver passive fire protection services:

Facilities Management

Facilities management encompasses multiple disciplines, integrating people, places, processes and technologies for optimal functionality in the built environment. CLM Fireproofing can balance the needs of varying stakeholders across the entire project lifecycle, resulting in the delivery of stellar passive fire protection solutions.

Meeting the Challenges of the Facilities Management Sector

A facilities management company will be responsible for a range of buildings with varying levels of occupancy, functionality and structural features. This complicates efforts to achieve full compliance with fire protection regulations. For example, office buildings, leisure facilities and retail spaces will all have unique fire protection requirements that must be fulfilled to the highest possible standards. For this reason, facilities management companies will contract specialists such as CLM Fireproofing to ensure that all the buildings within their remit receive a consistent level of outstanding service.

Commercial Construction

Fire protection is a key consideration in the design, renovation and construction of commercial structures. Major commercial projects can include a vast range of stakeholders, and any delays in project delivery or issues with non-compliance can incur substantial costs. Fortunately, CLM Fireproofing are leading specialists in passive fire protection for commercial construction, and can offer guidance and technical support at any phase of an ongoing project.

Our team offers the highest level of industry expertise and therefore can act as a trusted third party in construction projects. We will work seamlessly alongside site teams with minimal disruption to ongoing operations, and can advise on all matters related to passive fire protection compliance. This will help ensure that commercial construction projects are delivered on time and within budget, without having to compromise on quality or regulatory compliance.

We prioritise early engagement when undertaking commercial construction projects. By understanding build sequencing and project scope as soon as possible, we can offer the most practical solutions.

We also utilise Building Information Modelling (BIM) in the pre-design phase of commercial projects. This allows commercial stakeholders and industry specialists to exchange important information and access a clear audit trail in line with the golden thread approach. This is particularly crucial in commercial projects, as our team will work alongside multiple trades and teams to deliver passive fire protection solutions. During this process, we can act as a point of contact and source of information on best practice for fire protection.

Initially this involved the application of intumescent paint to the nine-storey steel frame podium, including a high-quality decorative paint finish to residential areas. Subsequently, CLM have installed all fire stopping on the project, ranging from service penetration in walls and slab to cavity barriers around the perimeter of the floor plate.

CLM’s performance throughout the project has been excellent, providing practical design expertise coupled with a proactive attitude on site to ensure works are complete to a high quality whilst never compromising on health and safety standards.
