East Village N06
The East Village Neighbourhood, adjacent to Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, has undergone considerable redevelopment. CLM Fireproofing were brought on board to provide passive fire protection for one of the final development plots – a £180m residential tower project.
East Village N06
This project involved two towers standing at 26 and 31 storeys tall, which were then merged with two ten-story pavilions and connected using a sky-bridge. This ambitious project would create over 500 new homes as part of a build-to-rent scheme in the East Village.
The development project was spearheaded by Mace, as part of a large-scale initiative to address housing shortages in London. We worked with Mace to create a thorough passive fire protection plan. The design of the building was particularly complex, and this has to be considered from the outset. Our comprehensive plan included the following:
- Compartmentation using slab edge cavity barriers for walls and masonry
- Fireproofing for complex penetration details
- FM Blue boarding system to riser shaft compartmentation
Like us, Mace is always pursuing continuous improvement. For instance, they recently initiated a new ‘self-contained, on-site factory approach’, which has saved time whilst maintaining consistently high quality. We are excited to continue working with Mace and to bring the project to completion.
