The Peninsula London
Project Overview
The Peninsula London is a landmark luxury hotel development located in Belgravia, overlooking Hyde Park Corner and Wellington Arch.
The scheme will comprise 190 guest rooms and suites, 25 private residences, a selection of bars and fine-dining restaurants, a grand ballroom, spa and wellness facilities, and a 1,100 sq m retail arcade.
Appointed by Sir Robert McAlpine, CLM was responsible for delivering passive fire protection across the new hotel and residential elements.

Firestopping Installation
CLM implemented comprehensive firestopping systems throughout the building, ensuring all compartment lines were fully protected. Works included:
- Sealing service penetrations within walls, floors and ceiling voids
- Firestopping to protect joints, rafters, ducts, pipes and cable routes
- Installation of tested solutions suitable for high-occupancy, high-value environments
- Ensuring correct integration with architectural and interior design features
Given the building’s scale, mixed uses and premium specification, maintaining clear, compliant compartmentation was central to the project.
Compartmentation Review & Risk Management
CLM conducted detailed assessments across structural and service interfaces to:
- Identify gaps, openings or unprotected routes that could allow smoke or fire spread
- Address legacy construction details and rapidly resolve identified risks
- Provide solutions aligned with the hotel’s fire strategy and luxury fit-out requirements
Our teams worked closely with other trades to maintain programme continuity within tightly controlled interior spaces.
Programme & Delivery
Works commenced in January 2021 and continued in line with the wider construction programme. Due to the high-profile nature of the project, CLM adopted a coordinated and phased approach to ensure:
- Minimal disruption to finishing trades
- Consistency in installation quality across guest rooms, residences and amenity spaces
- Compliance with hospitality sector fire safety standards

1 Exchange Square
Intumescent coatings, firestopping and BIM consultancy for a 447,000 sq ft Grade A redevelopment at Broadgate. CLM delivered surface preparation, priming, intumescent protection and topcoating across steelwork, supported by digital clash detection and compliant detail selection. Targeting BREEAM Outstanding and NABERS 5*.
Commercial ConstructionPeterborough Court
Cementitious coatings, cavity barriers and firestopping for a 292,000 sq ft Grade A redevelopment at 133 Fleet Street. CLM delivered Monokote MK6-HY application, PROMAT repairs and compartmentation works with integrated pre-construction and product selection support.
HealthcareOak Cancer Centre
Firestopping, cavity barriers and Promat structural protection for a new healthcare and research facility in Sutton. CLM installed certified systems from FSi, Protecta, Firefly and Promat to deliver full passive fire protection across clinical, research and outpatient areas.
Commercial Construction40 Leadenhall Street
Firestopping and compartmentation for a 900,000 sq ft, 34-storey mixed-use tower in the City of London. CLM is delivering tested firestopping systems across tower and basement levels, coordinating closely with trades to maintain compliant compartmentation on a complex, high-density project.
