Oak Cancer Centre

Project Overview
The Oak Cancer Centre is a major new healthcare facility funded by The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.

Located in Sutton, the building brings together outpatient services, medical day-care facilities and collaborative workspaces for more than 400 clinical researchers. The development forms a key part of The Royal Marsden’s ongoing expansion and is designed to support world-leading cancer diagnosis, treatment and research.

ISG appointed CLM to deliver a comprehensive passive fire protection package across the new centre.

Firestopping Installation

CLM installed a range of tested firestopping systems to protect compartment lines across walls, floors and ceiling voids.

Works included:

  • Installation of batt and mastic systems using FSi and Protecta products
  • Sealing penetrations for pipework, cabling and mechanical services
  • Ensuring all interfaces were fully compliant with the fire strategy

These systems were selected to deliver proven performance across a diverse range of service penetrations typical in healthcare environments.

Cavity Barriers

To protect concealed voids above ceilings and within service zones, CLM installed:

  • Firefly Apollo Lite cavity barrier systems
  • Collaroll for protection around penetrations, including pipes, cable trays and trunking

This ensured effective smoke and fire control throughout interconnected and sensitive clinical areas.

Structural Protection

CLM also delivered fire protection for structural steel by:

  • Boarding steel elements using Promat systems
  • Providing consistent and durable fire resistance across the structural frame
  • Coordinating installation with M&E and ceiling works to maintain programme flow
